Dyazide is a trade name for Triamterene; and is a potassium-sparing diuretic. It is a combination of triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide and is effective in lowering high blood pressure which in turn prevents heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems. It is also often prescribed to people at risk of having low potassium levels. It also helps treat edema caused by heart failure, liver or kidney disease. It works by producing more urine to get rid of extra salt, water, and other fluids. Alongside Triamterene, inactive the ingredients include benzyl alcohol and glycine.
